Vintage Variant of Rod Laver Sneakers from Adidas Originals
Mon, Jul 18, 2011
Adidas creates the new variant of the famous Rod Laver sneakers in the collaboration with NEXUSVII (NEXUS 7) Japanese brand. The shoe-makers have substantially changed the original model, so that hardly anybody can recognize the well-known Rod Laver in the new Vintage sneakers.
The sneakers are done black and white and feature a low top. In their essence the sneakers are a mere interpretation of an already existing model, the classic Rod Laver. The model owes its name an Australian tennis player, the great Rod Laver, who was a number one during a seven-year term. By the way, the Adidas Originals Rod Laver was one of the first tennis sneaker models in the brand’s lineup.
In the new model, worked out in the collaboration with the NEXUSVII, there’re almost no brand logos except for an embossed trefoil on the sneaker tongue and another one printed on an insole. There you won’t find even a trademark on its usual place, namely on a sole made of semi-transparent rubber.
The new Rod Laver sneakers feature a streamline form and are available in some exclusive NEXUSVII and Adidas Originals retail outlets in Japan as well as in internet shops.
