The Dutch Miracle

Sun, Jul 12, 2009

The new collection by Marc Jacobs is inspired by the Dutch wooden shoes, that overfill all the souvenir shops in the Netherlands. The idea is very exciting and interesting. The shape is easily recognizable and highly unusual. What else in the world is needed for the world of fashion?

The tendency was spotted by Marc Jacobs earlier than by the rest of the fashion brands. Although this of course happened a lot later than when the old-time Dutch shoe-makers thoroughly carved wooden shoes, which they incidentally for many centuries. We have to admit though, that wood is not as comfortable a footwear, as natural leather. This was exactly the thought that inspired the designers at Marc Jacobs for a new interpretation.

Now the shoes and boots with a recognizable typical toe will become another brand attribute of Marc Jacobs, just like a monogram from Louis Vuitton and textile bags from Gucci with GG initials. At the same time these unusual shoes and boots will probably not be liked by all. The toe is after all rather unusual. However, finding fresh ideas in the time of an economic crises is an achievement as it is.

The collection is created with regard to the modern color tendencies of the season, including a lot of gold and black. It also features the ultra-fashionable high boots, which also received the new toe and original coloring.

Actually, a shoe with such a toe looks really unusual and unique. The innovation is undoubtful, and thus guarantees attention. Once again the designers at Marc Jacobs managed to grasp the momentum and make use of the situation. It is also likely that if successful, the trend will soon be picked up by the rest of the fashion brands out there. So the Dutch shoes are, by the looks of it, going to take over the world in the nearest future.
